
Tributes have been pouring in from around the world for the Queen of Rock and Roll, Tina Turner, who has died aged 83.
The singer, who had a career spanning more than five decades, died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Switzerland, her family said.
Turner was known for her powerful voice and energetic live performances, and her hits included “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, “Proud Mary” and “The Best”.
Her former husband, Ike Turner, who she divorced in 1978, said in a statement: “Tina was my soulmate and the love of my life. We shared a wonderful life together and she was a fantastic partner.”
The Rolling Stones said in a statement: “We are deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Tina Turner. She was a true inspiration and a real pioneer for women in rock and roll.”
The singer’s former manager, Roger Davies, said: “Tina was a force of nature who defied all the stereotypes. She was a woman of great strength who never stopped fighting for her rights and never stopped believing in the power of music.”
Turner’s fans have also been paying tribute on social media, with many sharing photos and videos of her performances.
“Tina Turner was a true icon, a legend, and a pioneer of rock and roll,” one fan wrote. “Her music and her performances will live on forever.”
