Dwight Howard and Shaquille O’Neal have never gotten along. That was the situation for the seven seasons that their NBA careers coincided, and nothing has changed since then.
Especially now that Howard, 37, has chosen to prolong his career in the Taiwanese T1 League, Shaq has consistently insulted his fellow former Magic and Lakers center.
In November, Howard made his Taoyuan Leopards debut. In a 120-115 victory, he scored 38 points, grabbed 25 rebounds, had nine assists, and had four blocks. Shaq, though, wasn’t impressed.
A few days later, he added on The Big Podcast, “You should never be congratulated for being a good father because that’s what you’re supposed to do, right?” He should score 30 points when up against guys who are 5’8.”
However, since that debut, victories have been scarce for Howard and the Leopards. After Howard’s debut, the Leopards dropped their next 10 games, according to Asia-Basket. The team’s record has improved to 3-11 this season after winning back-to-back games in February.
Naturally, Shaq finds that to be incredibly amusing.
They have a poor track record. Someone emailed me information about their losing record. I’ll tell you right now that I’m not losing to anybody in Taiwan,” he declared during his podcast on Thursday. “How is it possible to be losing in Taiwan? Now, go along.
After Shaq’s insult of the T1 League during an Instagram Live in November, Howard sent O’Neal a lengthy message requesting that he “stop hating” and “being disrespectful” of the league. It would be fascinating to watch if Howard continues to stand up for himself after a 3-11 start to the year.
